After studying at Leeds University Ben spent 3 years at WSM Architects in Leeds, running a £1 million landmark medical centre for the NHS, which formed part of a £11 million urban masterplan scheme for Liverpool Housing Action Trust. He was also a key member of the project team responsible for running an £8 million housing regeneration project which replaced 3 dilapidated high rise blocks of flats, with the success of the project relying heavily on community involvement. Whilst at WSM, Ben worked on a number of other community projects including a £2 million lottery bid for a mixed use community centre in Bradford.

Since joining Cartwright Pickard Architects in 2002, Ben has project managed various residential and commercial mixed use projects for the practice, including two residential schemes that bring redundant Grade II listed buildings back into commercial use. Recently, Ben has been a key member of the team responsible for delivering on site the award winning Primrose Hill housing development in a deprived area of Huddersfield. Ben has also recently been involved in the successful competition submission for the residential masterplan in Thurnscoe, Barnsley.

Ben is licensed with the BRE to carry out EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments.
