Charles joined Cartwright Pickard Architects in 2007 to lead the Newington South project team. This mixed use scheme forms a key component of the Elephant & Castle masterplan in South London, incorporating ground floor retail units and 113 residential dwellings arranged around a landscaped garden. Extensive public consultations and negotiations with local stakeholders were undertaken to develop the design and the project was recently granted full Planning Approval by the London Borough of Southwark.

Charles graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1995 and is a registered architect with over 10 years of professional experience. His project work has spanned the educational, cultural, residential, commercial, infrastructure and interior design sectors. Charles has worked with respected London architectural practices, including Sir Norman Foster and Partners on Canary Wharf Underground Station and Holborn House; Richard Horden Architects on the Wingtower project for Glasgow’s science centre and at Stanton Williams Architects was responsible for the new School of Social Sciences for City University in Clarkenwell, central London.
