Gwyn Williams Gwyn joined Cartwright Pickard Architects in May 2007, as project architect on a £53 million data centre for Nationwide Building Society. The project is designed to accommodate 2000sqm of white space for data storage, along with all necessary cooling plant and administration facilities. The sensitive site required considerate use of materials to minimise the buildings impact on the surrounding neighborhood and careful internal space planning to ensure data security is maintained. The project was completed in 2010.
Other projects in which Gwyn has been involved include a Data Centre in Stockholm for Telecity and competition entries for a housing development for Affinity Sutton Group in Chelsea and the redevelopment of a large existing office building in Long Acre, Central London.Prior to Cartwright Pickard Architects Gwyn was an Associate at John Robertson Architects. He was project architect working on behalf of ISG Interior Exterior, to realise Lawn Tennis Associations’ National Training Centre, Roehampton, which won an RIBA award. He also worked on the refurbishment and extension of a grade 2 listed office building in Finsbury Circus, London.
Following his architectural education at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne he joined a large multi disciplinary practice where he gained considerable experience in the commercial and retail sectors.
