Constructing better homes

We believe our approach to architecture raises the standards of new homes. Whether owner-occupied, rented or in shared ownership, aligning design ideas with the construction process that delivers them helps to direct available resources to where they really make a difference: quality, flexibility and sustainability.

The benefits of our approach are equally apparent in any construction type, pre-fabricated, conventional new build or refurbishment. Our experience covers each of them and allows us to select whichever is most suitable to the needs of a particular project, and to achieve demanding specifications for Code for Sustainable Homes Ratings and Lifetime Homes standards. Our first built project, Murray Grove in Hackney for the Peabody Trust, demonstrated that modular construction can halve time on site and really does improve standards. Transferring many of the highly skilled tasks of construction to the controlled environment of a factory raised build quality and reduced the timescale and risks inherent in site work.

Our work in mixed use and mixed tenure regeneration shows the value of consultation with prospective residents and the broader community so that any new homes bring active improvements not just for people who live in them but across a neighbourhood. Consultation as well as working with public bodies and private developers helps us to identify expectations that prospective residents have for their homes and their surroundings. That helps us to make successful places as well as desirable homes.
