Student Mentoring with the University of Sheffield

Cartwright Pickard’s Leeds office is currently teamed up to mentor two Architecture and Structural Engineering students from the University of Sheffield. The University’s programme is designed to allow students direct experience of aspects of an Architects’ practice, including site visits, office meetings and design reviews.

Following an introductory evening at the university in November 2016, Ginny and Joshua have joined the practice to visit a number of our recently completed and currently on site projects in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, including the Gatecrasher Apartments student accommodation, the award winning Sellers Wheel, and the Albert Works project currently on site.

Joshua and Ginny have also joined the team for the day in our Leeds studio to see practice for the day, gaining an insight into the design and technical issues that we face in our daily work, followed by an afternoon spent on a design study for spaces within our new office space at Ice Works Studio (a previous Cartwright Pickard project known as Northern Light).

We look forward to them joining us later in the year for some design reviews, including reviews of their university projects.

We are currently recruiting for talented Part II Architectural Assistants in our London, Leeds and Manchester studios. More details can be found on our Careers page.
