We have created 335 new studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments in two landmark 25-storey towers, connected by a four-storey podium. 43 homes are for private sale, with the rest build-to-rent for Fizzy Living. The podium also houses a 152-room hotel, and, on the ground floor, flexible commercial units create an active street frontage.
Our design approach prioritised the standardisation of details and apartment types to achieve an efficient, cost-effective outcome. Just 12 different apartment types are stacked vertically to maximise the ease of construction and efficiency of the services. Repetition of key details helped to improve both the speed and quality of the work on site.
A limited material palette of brick, stone and aluminium was selected, chosen to be both timeless and durable. The façade is made up of a panellised brick system which was manufactured offsite and craned into place.
Residents benefit from a number of on-site amenities designed to create a sense of community. They will have access to co-working areas, residents’ lounges, a games room, yoga studio and a number of outdoor planted terraces with exceptional views across London. At ground level, new pockets of public realm across the site connect the development to the surrounding area.
Located moments from Canning Town station with exceptional public transport links into London, the scheme is designed to be car-free, with on site cycle storage provision for residents instead of car parking spaces. Rooftop photovoltaic panels and connection to the new Brunel Street Works district energy centre provide low-carbon electricity and heating to the scheme.
