Our strategy has been developed around seven key themes:

  • Boosting training and skills opportunities
  • Supporting the community

  • Protecting our environment
  • Promoting holistic sustainability
  • Innovation for a healthier, safer planet
  • Learning lessons to inform the future

CP Charitable Programme

2022: Mind

Our chosen charity for 2022 is Mind and we have a variety of events planned throughout the year to support their important work for better mental health for all.

2021: Shelter

Thanks to the hard work of our team and generosity of clients, friends and family, we raised over £4,000 for our 2021 nominated charity, Shelter. Events ranged from our Lockdown Challenge, which saw our team run, walk and cycle over 450km, to bake sales and a clothing collection on World Homeless Day.

DEC Ukraine Appeal

We held a charity bake sale across our three studios and raised £580 which was matched by the Practice raising a total of £1,160 for the Disaster Emergency Committee's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Christmas Clothing Collections

For several years, we have collected donations of unwanted clothing for various charities. In 2019, our Leeds studio collected donations for Leeds Womens Aid, a refuge for women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse. In Manchester, our team collected donations for Lifeshare UK, a voluntary organisation who help homeless and vulnerable people.

Race Across the Pennines 2018

On Saturday 23rd June, two teams battled it out in a Race Across the Pennines covering 25 miles each from our Leeds and Manchester studios to Hebden Bridge. Our chosen charities were Martin House Hospice for the Leeds studio and Wood Street Mission for the Manchester studio. In total we raised over £1,200 for these fantastic causes!

Three Peaks Challenge 2017

On a sunny Saturday morning in early September 2017, 7 CP enthusiasts headed in to the glorious setting of the Yorkshire Dales to take on the great Yorkshire Three Peaks. 24.5 miles hiking with 5,200ft ascent over Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough within 12-hours in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice and Wood Street Mission.

Together, for the planet

We are commited to reducing our carbon footprint and are proudly certified as carbon neutral in terms of our operations as an organisation. We also promote sustainable design principles as a core part of our design approach on all projects.

We’ve delivered many low-energy BREEAM Excellent office buildings, London’s largest certified Passivhaus housing scheme on completion, and have won awards for our pioneering research into whole life cost and carbon estimation technology, 7D BIM. Building on that experience, our attention has turned to net zero carbon. That’s both in construction and in use. We have developed our expertise in this area to help our clients, and indeed the UK, to meet their carbon reduction targets and sustainability aspirations.

Lambeth Civic Quarter has cut the council's carbon footprint by a third and is saving the Council £4.5m a year in running costs.

Centred around the refurbishment of Lambeth Town Hall and the construction of a new Civic Centre, alongside almost 200 new homes, the project has put the Town Hall back at the heart of the community and improved how the council delivers its public services.

"Cartwright Pickard worked very closely with us on getting what we needed. The building is absolutely at the centre of the local community."
