Alsop Fields shortlisted for AJ Retrofit Award

Creating a gateway into Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, the brief for Alsop Fields was to repurpose a series of disused industrial buildings within a conservation area to include creative office space and commercial space, alongside a new-build 162 study-bedroom student development and public realm.

We are delighted that the project has been shortlisted for an AJ Retrofit Award in the Offices (2,000m² - 5,000m²) category.

The scheme includes RIBA National Award-winning Albert Works, the conversion of four disused red-brick warehouses with the integration of a new central open plan infill to create approximately 1,600sqm of flexible workspace for brand and marketing agency, Jaywing. It also includes creative office and commercial space at Speedwell Works and 77 Sidney Street, which were identified by Sheffield City Council as ‘Buildings of Interest’ and have been sensitively converted to retain as much of the existing buildings of architectural merit as possible.

Winners will be announced on 11th September at The Brewery, London.
