The project, commissioned by Luminate Education Group, will provide 70,000 sqft of new learning space, significantly enhancing both the teaching and student experience while contributing to the local area's regeneration. The campus is already home to various Leeds City College provisions and provides studio space for Leeds Conservatoire - all part of the Luminate Education Group.
The new development will feature a five-storey campus for University Centre Leeds, a dedicated space for Leeds City College’s adult learning provision, and an atrium cafeteria situated between the new campus building and the existing converted warehouse. The design will comprise highly sustainable, open-plan learning spaces, with energy-efficient features and low carbon heating systems, and specially designed classrooms. In addition, Studio 24, a historic arts and events space in a former industrial building, will also be refurbished as part of the project.
With construction underway since last year, the project continues to progress well, having started with the partial demolition of existing buildings along Mabgate to pave the way for this exciting new development.
