Ian Walsh

Project Director

Ian joined the practice in 2009 following completion of his BArch course at the Manchester School of Architecture.

Since joining the practice, Ian has led a series of projects spanning the workspace, residential, mixed-use and educational sectors. With a particular strength in designing purpose built student accommodation, Ian was a key part of a number of our projects in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, including Gatecrasher Apartments and Sellers Wheel. Both projects combined the refurbishment of Grade-II Listed buildings with the construction of new purpose-built student accommodation.

He has a talent for realising the potential in former industrial heritage sites and has recently completed the award-winning Albert Works, a warehouse-to-workplace restoration which repurposes a piece of the city’s industrial heritage to create a dynamic headquarter office space for a creative agency.

Ian is currently working on the £62m refurbishment of two Grade II Listed former council buildings in Leeds city centre. The scheme will combine the retrofitting of these heritage buildings with the construction of two new build additions to provide 473 unique, high quality student bedrooms in a prime location.

Ian was named the Rising Star of the North, North Wales and Northern Ireland at the 2017 British Council for Offices NextGen Awards.
