Our brief was to enhance the history while providing modern facilities. Cartwright Pickard’s scheme meets these aims but has also created new spaces that have delighted visitors and been enthusiastically welcomed by Councillors, staff and the public.

Lambeth Civic Quarter is centred around the refurbishment and expansion of the 1908 grade II listed Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton, designed by Septimus Warwick and H Austen and the construction of an 11,000sqm BREEAM Excellent Civic Centre. The demolition of an existing office building to create 94 new homes in a part 14, part 10 and part 4-6 storey building with ground floor commercial space.
The sensitive refurbishment of this Art Deco building, the former Co-operative department store and one of the first buildings in Brixton to get electric, into 26 new apartments.
New cycle hub with 218 cycle parking spaces, changing/shower facilities and a café.

The demolition of an existing council building to create 74 new homes in a part 6 and part 7 storey building with flexible commercial space at ground floor and basement level.
