Planners at South Ribble Borough Council and Ribble Valley Borough Council granted permission for AMRC to build and equip a facility in a landmark location at the heart of the Samlesbury Aerospace Enterprise Zone, one of four zones that make up the wider Lancashire Advanced Manufacturing and Energy Cluster.
The 48,000sqft gateway development combines modern office workspace with a flexible high-tech workshop facility.

Internally we have expressed the structural steel frame as part of the celebration of engineering and technology within the building. A triple-height atrium forms the social hub of the office space where occupants can interact and exchange ideas.
The ‘social heart’ space overlooks the workshop where innovative processes will be carried out as part of collaborative work by industry leading organisations with a focus on vehicle electrification, battery assembly and lightweighting technologies,
By introducing lessons learned from innovative commercial office developments to the FE sector, we have created a modern and collaborative workspace for the University of Sheffield. Following the AMRC facility, there will be further workshop/office developments as part of the wider enterprise zone masterplan which will be informed by our proposals.
What is superficially a hangar shed and office has been reprogrammed with clever overlapping of uses to create an economic and exciting workspace that will entice the best and brightest to the AMRC and set the tone for future development in the sector.
