We were appointed to review and update the masterplan for Smithfield, Stoke to incorporate a multi-phase build-to-rent scheme and viable future office development proposals, as well as retail strategy and associated phasing strategies.
The scheme introduces a new accommodation type to the Stoke property market that will promote city centre sustainable living. The brief was to develop a scheme of 277 build-to-rent sector residential apartments with a large welcoming lobby, postal room, cycle storage, co-working space, bookable function rooms with kitchen spaces, a roof terrace with BBQ facilities and a private, landscaped courtyard, creating a vibrant community and rental living experience.
High-quality, with modern and robust finishes, the apartments are light, spacious and have been designed with energy efficiency and low running costs in mind. Taking a whole-life approach to environmental performance, passive design measures have been adopted to maximise passive solar gains and minimise thermal losses.
Our build-to-rent development is part of the creation of a wider new mixed-use district, incorporating residential and office space, hotel and restaurants along with a new central public square and pedestrian boulevard.
The first phase of 151 build-to-rent apartments was completed in November 2020.
